Who Decided Colourful Weddings Can’t Be Timeless?
Warning... this wedding has colour. Lots of it. And it's proof that colourful weddings can be every bit as timeless as their neutral counterparts.
Somewhere along the way, weddings became associated with a very specific version of "timeless"; white flowers, green foliage, neutral tones and understated styling. And while that aesthetic is undeniably beautiful, it's not the only path to a wedding that stands the test of time.
A timeless wedding isn't defined by its colour palette. It's defined by intentional design, meaningful details and a celebration that reflects who you are as a couple.
Want to know the secret to a timeless wedding? It's not the flowers, the venue or the colour palette, it's you. Your wedding day isn’t about what social media says is timeless or aesthetic, it’s about what you love. The moment a wedding becomes memorable is the moment it becomes unapologetically you. If every detail is intentionally chosen to reflect you, your partner and the love you share, you’ve already created a timeless wedding and colour is nothing to be afraid of.
It’s not colour that will date your wedding, it’s the context it’s put into.
Colour represents passion, celebration, joy and happiness. If colour is important to you, choose a venue that allows it to shine. Think lush green gardens, white marquees, bright interiors and clean backdrops where your florals can truly take centre stage. When colour is given room to breathe, it becomes part of the atmosphere, helping set the tone for an unforgettable celebration.
For Alice and Tamati they chose the beautiful Mona Vale Gardens in Christchurch for their wedding. The lush green gardens created the perfect backdrop allowing their flowers to truly shine. They wanted their flowers to reflect the love and joy they shared, using colour in an intentional design that celebrated abundance.
Floral installations are one of the most effective ways to elevate a colourful wedding. Rather than adding touches of colour here and there, embracing colour through intentional floral design creates a wedding that feels cohesive, effortless and beautiful.
For Alice and Tamati we created a gorgeous floral meadow installation with pretty pastel pinks, soft oranges, lemon yellows, lush greens, and crisp blues. Colour for them was essential in setting the tone for their day. They wanted their guests to walk into their wedding expecting a celebration.
This was executed from the moment their guests arrived. Starting with the welcome sign, colour was embraced from the small details all the way through to the large floral installation. Guests were welcomed by a fabric sign that immediately set the tone for the celebration. Blue detailing, seasonal fruit and delicate floral arrangements created a romantic and joyful first impression which is exactly the feeling they wanted guests to experience before entering the ceremony, greeted by a stunning explosion of bright pastels.
From the flowers at the beginning of the aisle, to the floral meadow installation at the end of the aisle this experience completely set the mood for the day of “let’s celebrate and have fun”. The floral meadow was later repurposed in front of the head table inside a white marquee, where the clean backdrop allowed the colours to continue shining throughout their reception. This carried that sense of celebration, love, passion and joy through to the next stage of their day which was exactly the party they had that evening.
So remember this, you don’t have to have white and green if pink is your favourite colour. It’s time to stop doubting what you want and embrace the colours that make you happy.
If your wedding is unapologetically you, through colour, intentional design and meaningful details, it will feel timeless, elegant and luxurious, no matter the palette you choose. Choose intentional design from the beginning and go all out with an installation, like a floral meadow, to truly create a memorable colourful wedding.
If you love colours, whether they be bright and vibrant, bright pastels, or just a highlight of your favourite colour, then it’s time to take the leap and trust us to bring your wedding dreams to life.
